Kinzakura Shrine
Kamine Park consists of a zoo, an amusement park and a leisure land, and was opened in 1957. Also nearby are a swimming pool, bathing facilities, and the Yoshida Tadashi Music Memorial Hall, a composer who has won the National Honor Award.
At the zoo, the lesser panda building opened in July 2021. And there is talk of attracting giant pandas in the future.
Amusement parks and leisure lands have various amusement facilities such as jet coasters, ferris wheels, and gokers, and Kamine Park is a great place to visit not only from Hitachi citizens but also from inside and outside the prefecture.
It is also a famous place for cherry blossoms and one of the 100 best places to see cherry blossoms in Japan.
Takeda Shrine
Takeda Shrine was founded in the Meiji and Taisho eras on the site of Tsutsujigasakiyakata, the residence of three generations of warring lords of Kai, Takeda Shingen, Shingen, and Katsuyori. It is a rare shrine in Japan that enshrines Takeda Shingen as its deity.
It is said that the shrine offers benefits such as prayers for victory, based on the image of Takeda Shingen, who was revered as the strongest warrior.
From the shrine you can get a panoramic view of Kofu city.
10 minutes by car from our hotel.
Kofu Castle ( Maizuru Castle Park)
About 1 km of cherry blossom trees on the left and right of Heiwa-dori from the front of Hitachi Station. "Hitachi Sakura Festival" is held every April.
During the festival, Hitachi Furyumono (Kamine Shrine's Grand Festival), which is designated as an important tangible folk cultural property and an important intangible folk cultural property of the country, will be exhibited and performed. Don't miss the 15-meter-high floats and karakuri puppet theater. It was also registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Also, during the festival, you can enjoy the cherry blossoms in Kamine Park and the illumination at Juo Panorama Park in the northern part of Hitachi City.
After watching the cherry blossoms, head to Hitachi Station, which was renewed in 2011. It was supervised by Kazuyo Sejima, a world-famous architect from Hitachi. It was also selected as a beautiful station in the world. From the east side, the place name Hitachi was also derived, and the Pacific Ocean is the entire surface. It is derived from "The place where the sun rises, the best in the territory" (from Mitsukuni Mito).
The "Cheers Cafe" on the east side is a very popular cafe. Pancakes have a good reputation.
Kitaibaraki Izura-Isohara
Tenshin Memorial Museum of Art, Ibaraki Prefecture, on the Izura Coast, Kitaibaraki City, Ibaraki Prefecture. An art museum that mainly exhibits Japanese paintings by Tenshin Okakura from Yokohama and Taikan Yokoyama from Mito. Tenshin Okakura has moved here.
On the nearby Izura coast, there is the Rokkakudo Kanrantei, which is related to Tenshin. It disappeared in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, but was rebuilt the following year.
Ujo Noguchi, known for the nursery rhyme of the famous song "Akai Kutsu", is from Kitaibaraki. The Noguchi Rain Information Memorial Hall is located in Isohara, Kitaibaraki City. In the memorial hall, there are exhibits of Kitaibaraki's folk, cultural properties, documents, etc., as well as materials on rain.
Kitaibaraki is famous for anglerfish. I can think of an angler fish pot, but it is said that the angler fish is hung, the body is cut, and all but the bones are eaten. The rich soup is excellent.
Nishizawa Valley
Nishizawa Valley is located within Chichibu Tama Kai National Park and is one of the most beautiful scenic spots in Japan.
The valley, formed when the clear stream eroded the huge granite rocks, is like a work of natural art, with the stream flowing through the virgin forest creating numerous waterfalls and exuding a mysterious charm.
The beauty of the valley, woven together by various waterfalls including Nanatsugama Godan Falls, a famous waterfall selected as one of the "100 Best Waterfalls of Japan," Mie Falls, Ryujin Falls, Koito Falls, and Sadaisen Falls, is truly breathtaking.
Kiyosato Plateau
Hananuki Gorge in the western part of Takahagi City. About 11 kilometers west of Takahagi Station.
Beautiful valley beauty continues from Hananuki Dam to Namerigafuchi and Kotakizawa Campground.
The view from the Shiomi Waterfall Suspension Bridge is wonderful, and you can also enjoy Shiomi Waterfall. The best time to see the autumn leaves is around mid-November.
There is a hiking trail, which takes 2.8 kilometers around and takes about 60 minutes.
After hiking, we recommend the one-day bath facility "Nakago Onsen / Doriyanse", which is about a 20-minute drive from the Hananuki Valley.
